New Reactive Formulations For Polypropylene Foams

This work focuses on reactive extrusion to design polypropylene (PP) chains with long and short branching obtain non-linear behavior for the synthesis of low-density foams (<100 kg m?3) using a batch supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) foaming process. From maleic anhydride (MA) grafted PP (PP-g-MA), long-branched are performed [MA]/ [OH] reaction (with Sorbitol alcohol). On other hand, branched made from hydrolysis/condensation amino-alkoxysilane (3-Aminopropyl-triethoxysilane, APTES) in situ onto through ([MA]/NH2] reaction). The results show need combine both systems reach optimum rheological (linear non-linear) foam. polypropylene/polyamide 6 (PP/PA6) polymer blends at T = 180 °C is also investigated as another way control rheology foamy behavior. At this temperature, °C, PA6 phase behaves solid dispersed particles viscoelastic liquid matrix. Finally, study shows influence concentration foam morphology correlated (shear extensional) mechanical compressive properties.
